On Saturday, March 21st, 2015 the UCP Pucksters will take on the Red Wing Alumni. The charity game, which will benefit UCP/Detroit, is being played at the Viking Ice Arena in Hazel Park. The event will begin at 4:00 pm with a Sled Hockey exhibition featuring the Michigan Sled Dogs and then the Red Wing Alumni-UCP Pucksters game at 6:00 pm. An afterglow pizza party will follow immediately.

This event will be a blast for hockey fans and the whole family. Admission is only $10 per person or $30 per family (max 5 members). Those 5 and under get in free. The afterglow pizza party is a $10 donation. There will also be a silent auction at the game. Everyone can participate in a 50/50 drawing or play “Chuck-A-Puck” to win prizes. The doors open at 3:30 pm to begin bidding on items. All proceeds from this charity event will be used to assist people with disabilities and their families. UCP/Detroit is a local non-profit advocacy organization representing the needs of all people with disabilities and their families in the Metropolitan Detroit and the Tri-County areas. Eighty-Five percent of every dollar raised from UCP special events is used for programs and services that benefit directly the people we serve.

The Detroit Red Wing Alumni Association, which is the oldest such organization in the NHL, now plays around 30 games a year to the benefit of worthy charities. This group uses their status as former NHL players to bring people together for a common goal...to raise spirits and raise money for some wonderful organizations. The alumni roster includes such names as John Ogrodnick, Jimmy Carson, Craig Wolanan, Petr Klima, Danny Newman, Brent Fedyk, Pat Peake and fan favorite, Mickey Redmond.

Together we have raised over $230,000 over the past 14 years for the disability community.
