Sunday, Feb. 19 marks the beginning of the first-ever Hockey Week Across America.

The event, which runs through Sunday, Feb. 26, aims to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Hockey Weekend Across America with a theme for each day of the week intended to celebrate different aspects of hockey.

“We are excited to join USA Hockey in celebrating our great sport throughout an entire week,” said MAHA president George Atkinson. “Hockey Weekend Across America has done a wonderful job of increasing awareness of the game and promoting hockey over the last decade, and we appreciate the work that USAH does to help organizations like ours grow the game at the grassroots level.”

Hockey Day in America kicks off the week with live coverage of four NHL games on NBC Sports, with the Red Wings’ battle against the Pittsburgh Penguins being one of the featured games.

Monday through Thursday signify days to honor the players, coaches, officials and local rinks that help make hockey thrive.

Friday asks for all hockey fans to throw their favorite sweater on, as it’s Wear Your Favorite Jersey Day. Saturday is Try Hockey Day, and the week closes out with a call to celebrate local hockey heroes in your area.
