From Friday, Mar. 2 through Sunday, Mar. 4, hockey will be celebrated throughout the state of Michigan and across the entire country.

USA Hockey’s 11th annual Hockey Weekend Across America takes place during that time frame, as a collection of themes and activities encourage hockey players, parents, coaches, referees and fans to share their love of the game.

Here are the themes for the weekend:

March 2 – Wear Your Favorite Jersey Day
Friday is the day for fans to display their hockey pride by wearing one of their favorite hockey jerseys.

March 3 – Try Hockey Day
More than 400 rinks across 46 states will be hosting a ‘Try Hockey for Free’ event to give interested youngsters a chance to experience the game free of charge. For a full listing of Try Hockey events near you, click here. 

March 4 – Celebrate Local Hockey Heroes
Hockey people are encouraged to develop ways to honor their local hockey heroes – the men and women that make the hockey community such a special thing to be involved with and cherished.

March 4 will also be the first ‘Championship Sunday’ for the MAHA state playoffs. State champions will be crowned in the following divisions:

8U Mite
10U B, A, AA
12U B A, AA
Girls Tier 1 12U, 14U, 16U and 19U
Girls’ Tier 3 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 19U
Women’s Sr. B & C
