Registration Process & Seminars

Seminars

All USA Hockey officials must attend an annual seminar in order to be completely registered.  Seminars will be held across the state, beginning in August.  USA Hockey registration opens on June 1st.  The seminar schedule can be seen by following the links below.

*IMPORTANT* - Seminar Pre-Registration
Again this season, all Michigan officials must pre-register for a seminar. Search for a seminar that is best for you and pre-register for that seminar.

All officials should bring a notebook, a pen/pencil, whistle, skates, helmet, protective equipment, and money for lunch.  Also, please use an internet service such as MapQuest to find directions to the seminar location.

As a reminder, to complete an official’s registration an applicant must:

  • Register online with USA Hockey
  • Register for and attend a classroom Seminar
  • Complete their required and elective online training modules within the required time frame
  • Pass an open exam at their registration level
  • Pass a closed book exam (no closed book at Level 1) for their registration level
  • Complete online Safe Sport training every other year (Over 18 only)

Background Screening Program

Michigan officials, who are 18 years of age or older, must complete on-line background screening. Once this form is completed and submitted, you will be given the opportunity to print the confirmation form.  You will not be eligible to officiate until this requirement is completed.

Any further questions should be directed to Jerry Moran at michiganrefereeregistrar@gmail.com.
