The Michigan Amateur Hockey Association is proud to announce the creation of a Tier 1 showcase to kick off the 2019-2020 fall hockey season.
The showcase will feature all of the 14U, 15-Only, 16U and 18U boys Tier 1 teams playing three games in the same building over the course of three days.
For the inaugural edition of the event, the showcase will take place at the Troy Sports Center on Sept. 5-7.
The details for the new showcase were finalized during the 2019 MAHA Summer Meeting in Bellaire this weekend.
“The Tier 1 Showcase is a great example of the eight Michigan Tier 1 organizations working together to provide great opportunities for players and teams,” said Tier 1 committee chair Bob Mancini. “When decisions like this are made, they’re in the best interest of the players’ development and players’ improvement, but when you get to these age groups, we also have to take into consideration that we need to showcase our players, and we’re hoping that this event provides that opportunity.”
The TPH Michigan Hockey Advancement 18U team will be the first team invited to fill the 18U division, which has nine teams at the Tier 1 level in Michigan.
The three games will count towards the game counts each team is required to play with each of their respective in-state opponents.
“It’s a great opportunity for our players to get exposure before the college and junior seasons get underway,” said Dwayne Norris, hockey director of the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies. “We’re very excited to work with all the Tier 1 organizations to make this happen, and we’re thankful to the Troy Sports Center for their assistance with hosting.”
A full schedule will be announced soon.
