MAHA was as surprised as anyone to hear about the Governor’s press conference this morning and the release of the MDHHS January 22, 2021 Gatherings and Face Mask Order (“Order”).  We are reviewing the Order to see what options we have. Due to the declining number in the state, and the success of the MHSAA pilot testing program, we are surprised this is the direction the State is taking. I know everyone is upset, as are we, but please be patient as we continue to address this. MAHA has been advocating for a safe return to hockey through various channels since early summer. We have spent countless hours and provided information including direct testimony to the government. It is unfortunate that the government does not seem to see the harm they are doing to the kids and our game. We have proposed many options that we feel that are far safer than what is currently being allowed.  Please stay tuned as we review the Order.
