The Michigan Amateur Hockey Association is proud to announce a new partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance, a non-profit organization that provides research-based training and resources for coaches, parents, athletes, and leaders to ensure a positive youth development experience for ALL kids, in all communities across the U.S., through sports.

Here is the press release issued by the PCA in their announcement of the new partnership:

The Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA) is a sanctioned affiliate of USA Hockey whose purpose is to develop and encourage sportsmanship between all players for the betterment of their physical and social well-being.  MAHA supervises and provides resources for over 2,500 amateur hockey teams and over 50,000 players and coaches!

In a two-year partnership, PCA and MAHA look forward to providing valuable experiences to athletes in and out of the rink. The first year of this partnership will be focused on supplying PCA training to the leaders of individual youth hockey organizations in Michigan.

Jason Reynolds, MAHA Director of Operations & Marketing spoke about the mutual benefits that this new partnership could provide and what MAHA hopes to achieve:

“I believe this partnership is an investment in our culture. There are always opportunities for improvement and growth within our hockey community, and our challenges reflect those that are relevant to many youth sports today. PCA’s work with many USA Hockey Affiliates has received tremendous praise, and I believe all of our participants will find real value in the resources provided through this partnership. Whether it’s improving our relationships with officials, enhancing recognition of our statewide leaders, highlighting sportsmanship within our community, or even having a ‘courageous conversation’ around diversity and inclusion within our game… our organization sees many avenues for continuous growth and development.”

PCA is also proud to be supplying our Sports Can Battle Racism training at the MAHA State Leadership Conference, inviting all coaches to attend and participate. Additionally, coaches across the state are welcomed to join a live Double-Goal Coach®: Coaching for Winning and Life Lessons training via Zoom before this upcoming season.
