With October just around the corner, the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA) encourages all goalies and associations / clubs to register for the 2022 October Saves Goalie Challenge!
What is October Saves?
October Saves is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charitable organization that began in 2014 for the purpose of raising money to fight cancer.
The concept is simple... during Breast Cancer Awareness month, goalies of all ages and skill levels across North America gather pledges for each save they make during October. Funds raised benefit our amazing cancer-fighting beneficiaries across the US and Canada and goalies win prizes as they raise money!
Due to overwhelming support, associations and clubs can now register to participate in the October Saves Goalie Challenge. Compete against other associations, as well as U.S. states, for bragging rights as the 2022 top fundraiser!

PINK BRICK WALL
Download and print this 3′ X 5′ pink brick wall banner to hang on the wall in your ice rink or skating facility. We suggest you hang the banner in a prominent location in the lobby so your goalies and their families and team mates can see it. This helps to promote the event and inspire goalies to make lots of saves and raise lots of money!
GOALIE HELMET NAME TEMPLATE
Also download this goalie helmet name template. You can write or print your goalies’ names on the paper helmets. Feel free to have fun with this! Add your club logo or let your goalies decorate their own helmet. Some clubs laminate the helmets to make sure they stay in good condition for the month. You can move the paper goalie helmets up the wall as your goalies fundraising dollars increase. For example, if a goalie has raised $50 in pledges after the first week of the event you will move their helmet to the $50 milestone on the banner.
MARKETING / FLYERS
To help promote this event to your club and donors, feel free to email, post or hand out these flyers. As more people become aware of your efforts, more and more people will sign up to participate and donate money.

CHARLIE CAPALBO MEMORIAL KORN CAMP SCHOLARSHIP RAFFLE
Mitch Korn, long-time NHL goalie coach / Director of Goaltending and 2018 Stanley Cup Champion, has been kind enough to offer an incentive for our goalies.
October Saves participants who raise more than $1,500 will be entered into a drawing for one camp FREE of tuition costs, for any camp location you choose during the 2023 Korn camp summer season. The name of the winning goalie will be drawn on November 11.
This year, Mitch has renamed the scholarship in memory of Charlie Capalbo, an incredible goalie and an even more amazing young man. Charlie fought cancer four times and taught us all what resilience, strength, and positivity look like.
