It is that time of the year to submit nominations for MAHA & USA Hockey Year End Awards!

USA Hockey New Leader Award

This Award recognizes the next generation of leadership at either the local association or the state level.  Associations or Directors should submit the name of the volunteer you wish to recognize, as well as any honorable mentions. The individual from Michigan selected to receive this award will be announced at the USA Hockey Annual Congress in June and be recognized at the MAHA Summer Meeting in July.

USA Hockey Female Honors Award

This award is a yearly recognition for a local hockey organizations that are leaders in the growth, development and promotion of ice hockey for females. 

Organizations will need to submit a one-page document listing their compliance per the criteria and an explanation of their leadership in girls’/women’s ice hockey.

Earl G. Piper - Coach of the Year Award

Given annually at the MAHA Summer Meeting, this award recognizes an individual who contributes significantly to the development of youth players. This is an opportunity to nominate an individual who is one of your associations shining stars. A coach who is the player’s favorite by teaching the game as a fun way of making things interesting. But also, one who exemplifies and teaches the character skills for the player he (she) coaches to live life as a contributing member of society.

Wes Danielson Award

At each Summer Meeting, the Wes Danielson Award recognizes an individual who, like Wes, overcomes a major handicap or diversity and continues to participate in or make a major contribution to ice hockey.

Nomination for this award should be submitted to Gordon Bowman via email at gordonrbowman@gmail.com.

Lowell McCoy Award - Referee of the Year

The Lowell McCoy Referee of the Year Award recognizes a referee who has contributed significantly to the development of young officials and excellence in his/her role as a referee.

Nomination for this award should be submitted to Vice President of Officials Judy Niemi via email at niemi.judy@gmail.com.

Ray Kraemer Award

The Ray Kraemer award annually goes to the MAHA adult player or participant who has been helpful in the promotion and development of adult hockey.

Nomination for this award should be submitted to Vice President of Adults Doug Diroff via email at vpadults@maha.org.

Nominations for All Awards Must be Received by April 15, 2024
