Of all the teams from Michigan that participated in USA Hockey National Championships this past week, the Plymouth Flyers hold all the bragging rights.
They emerged victorious.
The Flyers, which earned a spot in the national tournament as MAHA's Youth 14U AA Tier II state champion, recorded a 6-5 victory over the West Seneca Wings Sunday afternoon.
It wasn't a home game for the Flyers, but it was close - the 2025 Chipotle-USA Hockey Youth Tier II 14U National Championships were held in Kalamazoo.
Ryan Brand, nicknamed as "Captain Clutch" by his teammates, registered a hat trick in the title game for Plymouth.
"I'm really excited, the team has played great today and the whole season," Brand told USA Hockey reporter Madilynn Warden after the contest. "The whole season we've been working hard for the so it's a great feeling.
The Flyers squad was coached by TC Wingrove.
"It means so much," Wingrove said. "We're the first team ever from our program to make a national championship game...it's just so special, they've worked so hard."
