Organization: Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA)

Camp Dates: August 6–8, 2026

Compensation: $3,000 (paid in three installments of $1,000 on April 15, June 15, and August 15)

Reports To: MAHA Executive Board through the Player Development Chairman

Overview

The Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA) is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to serve as Director of the 2026 MAHA High Performance Camp, modeled after Minnesota’s Dave Peterson Camp.

The camp will be held August 6–8, 2026, and is designed for boys and girls ages 14–16. The program will feature approximately 20 boy goalies, 20 boy players, 15 girl goalies, and 15 girl players.

The camp’s mission is to expose Michigan’s top young athletes to elite-level coaching, innovative teaching methods, and developmental concepts they may not encounter with their regular teams or hockey academies.

Position Summary

The High Performance Camp Director will oversee all aspects of planning, organization, and execution of the 2026 MAHA High Performance Camp. The Director will ensure a high-quality experience for athletes, coaches, and staff while upholding MAHA’s player development objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Oversight

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all camp operations.
  • Report directly to the MAHA Executive Board through the Player Development Chairman.

Staffing & Instruction

  • Recruit and appoint qualified college and junior coaches to lead on-ice and classroom instruction.
  • Collaborate with MAHA’s Goalie Development Coordinators to build and manage the goaltending staff.

Logistics & Administration

  • Work closely with the Player Development Chairman to manage all camp logistics, including scheduling, facilities, equipment, and participant coordination.
  • Oversee registration, communication, and staffing assignments prior to camp.
  • Ensure the camp aligns with MAHA’s standards of safety, professionalism, and player development.

Program Quality

  • Facilitate a development-focused environment that encourages learning, growth, and exposure to diverse coaching methodologies.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to MAHA for future camp improvements.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in hockey operations, player development, or coaching (college, junior, or elite youth level preferred).
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to recruit and manage a diverse staff of coaches and support personnel.
  • Familiarity with MAHA programs, USA Hockey structures, and player development philosophies is a plus.
  • Must be available for planning in the months leading up to the camp and on-site during the entire camp period (August 6–8, 2026).
