Registration is open for Summer Meeting of the MAHA Board of Directors. This year’s meeting will be held at Grand Traverse Resort in Acme, Michigan, July 13-16, 2017. The summer meeting is always a great opportunity to network with other association presidents and hockey leaders from around the state to get new ideas to help make your local program better.

Again this year, we are expanding the number of sessions designed to help associations grow and improve their youth hockey programs. Our Association Development Workshops begins at 10 a.m. on Friday and continues into the evening. We recommend you come Thursday evening so you don’t miss any of the Friday sessions.

On Friday, our featured session will be “The Future of MAHA - Shaping the Strategic Plan”. The presenter will be Dottie Dermo of the Dermo Group. Dottie has been working with us since last fall to begin to develop a strategic plan we can use to change and adapt our organization to meet the needs of the ever-changing youth sports landscape. Dottie will provide an overview of the process and review the input we have to date. We are looking for additional association input and feedback that will help chart our course for the future. I think you will find this session very interactive and informative.

On the technology side of things, this year we will have a presentation from Sports Engine on how to automate a lot of the processes within your association, including communication to players and members. Sports Engine is the website provider for MAHA, USA Hockey and many of our local associations. They will also be available to answer one-on-one questions about your association’s website.

Those are just the highlights. We have many other valuable sessions including one on player contracts, how to properly use them, enforce them and collect on them.

On Saturday morning, we will have our Association President Meeting. This meeting will be chaired by one of your peers. This session gives association leaders the opportunity to discuss issues and share best practices.

The Deadline to Register is June 2.
