Host a Tournament

Want to Host Tournament, Jamboree or Showcase?

The first step is determining what type of event you need to have a sanction for.

Definition of a Tournament: Ice hockey competition, other than normally scheduled league or exhibition games, where three or more legally-registered teams compete within a specified time frame for the purpose of declaring a champion. This shall include gatherings consisting of more than three (3) teams.

Definition of a Showcase: Ice hockey competition, other than normally scheduled league games, where three or more legally-registered teams compete within a specified time frame where a champion is not declared. This shall include gatherings consisting of more than three (3) teams. Association Exchanges (limited to two (2) Associations), are exempt.

Definition of a Jamboree: Ice hockey competition for players ages 8 and under, where three or more legally-registered teams compete within a specified time frame. This shall include gatherings consisting of more than three (3) teams, except Association Exchanges (limited to two (2) Associations).

How to Host an Invitational Tournament

To Host a tournament fill out the required registration form by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page.  When you apply to host a tournament you will need the following:

  1. All the pertinent information for your tournament. These include divisions offered, dates, tournament director contact information etc.
  2. A copy of the tournament rules in PDF or DOC format to be attached to the application
  3. A copy of your tournament flier or information in PDF or DOC format to be attached to the application if you wish to have it displayed in our tournament search NEW
  4. There is a  $250 Application Fee for invitational tournaments. At the close of the tournament an email will be sent with a link to close out the tournament. Have a list of the teams that played with their USA or Canadian Team numbers ready on the Tournament Team Participation Form to upload.  Upload the needed information and pay the remaining fee.($45 per team)
  5. For 3 on 3, or 4 on 4 tournaments the fee is $350.00 paid at the time of registration. There is no team fee or reporting requirement after the event.
  6. For Showcases there is a flat fee paid at the time of registration. For less than 6 teams the fee is $350. For more than 6 teams the fee is $500. There is no team fee or reporting requirement after the event.
  7. All tournament promoters and/or organizers that are NOT USA Hockey-approved member programs, are required to provide proof of liability insurance evidencing $1,000,000/occurrence and $2,000,000/aggregate prior to an approved sanction being issued.

IMPORTANT - Please read USA Hockey Rules and Regulations, Article VIII "Games, Exhibition Games, Invitational Tournaments and Sanctioned Events" and any applicable Affiliate rules before completing this form. This sanctioned Invitational Tournament is expected to be conducted in compliance with local, state  and federal health guidelines and regulations in force at the time and location of the tournament. Sanctioning of a tournament does not provide insurance for a non-member promoter and/or organizer. All tournament promoters and/or organizers agree that they are responsible for following and shall follow the USA Hockey Sanctioned Tournament Safe Sport Program Protocol, online at https://www.usahockey.com/resourcesanddownloads, in operation of the sanctioned tournament.
